Why We Should Use The Power Of The Sea

July 13th, 2011

All our energy comes from the sun. It may have arrived millions of years ago and been converted into plants and then into oil and coal or it may arrive today and make the wind blow. A lot of the energy that arrives heats the sea and makes the sea warm up so why do we not capture all that energy

The sea is imensly powerful. The destruction it sometimes causes is clear proof of that. We are able to build docks to keep sailing boats safe from the effects of the sea. How come we can’t build something like a dock that captures the sea as it comes in at high water and then collect energy as we release it again?

How come we make little use of the wave and tidal energy? There is so much power available yet we look to windfarms and growing plants to produce energy.

All the various renewable energy systems do work but it seems like we are ignoring the huge potential energy supply that is the sea. Maybe it doesn’t seem so exciting and I am sure the power of the sea can be a problem when designing equipment but you would think that we can make better use of the energy from the sea woudn’t you?

The Growth Of Solar Power Plants

We may not notice in our daily lives but the instalations of solar power plant grows all the time. Enthusiastic supporters of solar energy may feel somewhat disappointed that solar has not yet appeared on every home or factory but it is experiencing a slow but steady growth.

It is in everybody’s interest that this continues and hopefully speeds up bt it is encouraging to see that even though it may not get a lot of coverage on TV and in the media, solar power plants are increasing.

Learn Some Basic DIY Before Installing Solar Panels

The installation of solar panels is not the hardest job in the world. You don’t need to be a brain surgeon but you do need to learn some basic diy skills if you are not already an experienced tradesman or do it yourselfer.

Practice handling your tools in your workshop or garage. You don’t want to be learning how to use a power driver or a saw when you are working on the roof installing solar energy capture panels. Safety is more important than energy saving so know your tools and how to use them when you are on the ground first.

Get a tool belt if you don’t already have one. When working on your roof a toolbelt or tools backpack will keep your nails and screws safe and ready to use in the pouch and you can also get tool belts that can secure your electric drill or power screwdriver so you keep your hands free for holding on and staying safe.

Know your tools on the ground. Make sure you have the right tools and a toolbelt to hold them and be safe while you install your solar energy recovery system panels.

Free Solar Panels Supplied And Fitted

There are apparently companies and investment groups who will supply and fit solar panels on your home for free. The only catch is that you have an agreement with them that could be as long as twenty years where they can do pretty much whatever they want with your roof.

The idea is that you get to use as much solar electricity as you like but any excess that goes into the grid and gets paid for generates money for the investment company.

This could be a great deal for you because you get to use free electricity and it’s a great deal for the investment company because they get paid for all the solar electricity that is pumped into the grid.

One thing to remember about this is that when you are at work during the day is the time most solar energy will be produced and you may not be able to take full advantage of it.but since the whole installation of solar panels is free any benefit you get could make it a great deal and a positive move to help keep our air and environment clean and healthy for our children.

Solar Power For Homeowners

It seems obvious to me that solar power for homeowners and businesses is the energy supply of the future. Solar power is free to collect anywhere on the planet and it has several advantages for the planet including reduced pollution and zero carbon emissions.

Buying solar panels is still a fairly large expense and we need to somehow get the prices down to make solar energy a realistic option for all homeowners to install.

The growing demands of China, India and other expanding countries is sure to send the price of oil through the roof in the coming years so investing in a solar panel installation for your home right now is sure to be a great long term investment in the future.

How To Store Solar Energy

We have heaps of solar power during the summer but a lot less in the winter when we need to use a lot of heat to keep warm. There are ways of capturing the solar energy in the summer and storing solar energy for use in the winter.

The simplest way to store energy is to heat up a large mass of rock and keep that heatstore well insulated so it can be used throughout the winter months to warm our houses and the best way to do this is to have a basement full of rubble heated by pipes fom solar collectors.

Saving Money On Future Energy Needs With Solar Panels

We have heard a lot about biofuels and hydrogen powered cars but the energy that originaly provides these fuels comes from the sun and solar energy panels are the simplest way for anyone to use free energy to help power their homes.

The sun is an incredible furnace that has been burning for millions of years and is expected to continue burning for many millions of years yet. It provides the energy that grows our plants which feed the animals and we feed on both of them. The sun is what keeps our world working.

The plants take up the energy of the sun and convert it into energy they can use and we can do the same with modern solar panels that convert sunlight into electricity using photovotaic solar panel technology but there is another simple way to capture energy from the sun.

We get both heat and light energy from the sun and the heat energy can be captured with some simple heat recovery solar panels that absorb the heat from the sun and transfer it to a liquid which can the be used to heat our hot water systems. It is a simple and cheap technology and people can even build such systems at home.

Solar energy is the oldest energy source we have and yet it is also the future and as we make better use of it we will reduce our dependence on foreign oil reducing our financial problems and pollution levels in the air that we breathe.

Benefits Of Solar Energy

It is hard to understate the enormous benefits of solar energy and how it could improve all our lives. Solar energy is free to collect by anybody who has the correct solar collection panels which could be either solar heat collection panels or photo voltaic solar electricity panels.

we cannot make our own oil or gas and few of us dig a coalmine in the backyard but we all have access to the sunshine and we can heat our hot water supply or convert the sunlight to electricity with the photovoltaic panels.

There are huge benefits for society as well as just us individual users. Solar energy is readily available every day of the year. It is clean and non-polluting and it reduces the money spend on imported oil currently used to power our cars and utilities. The more we invest now in solar energy the less we will have to spend shipping oil from abroad in the future and that is better for all of us.

Reasons To Use Solar Power And Energy From The Sun

People seem quick to take sides on the solar energy debate which is rather odd. I have never heard an argument between people who say we should use gas rather than electricity but arguments about using solar energy are common.

The energy we get from the sun arrives on this planet every day. It matters not a jot what you think about it, it will be here today, tomorrow and the next day for as long as we can imagine. It doesn’t matter what you or I think. Solar energy is a fact.

The only question is should and could we use solar power to heat our homes and supply us with electricity. The answer seems obvious. Solar power is free and it is abundant and, crucially perhaps, it does not pollute the atmosphere, the land or the sea.

You could argue that oil is free too but that needs to be found and pumped out of the ground, transported thousands of miles, refined and delivered to gas stations, before it gets into your car.

Solar power is everywhere. It may not be a concentrated energy source like oil but it is reliable and we know where it will be and when. It will continue to be there for many thousands of years. Oil will begin running out in the not too distant future. So, it would seem there is no real argument about whether we should use solar energy to power homes. The question is how and when.

Unfortunately it remains relatively expensive to collect solar energy but if we have the common sense to look at the long term view we can build solar energy collecting stations that will continue to work for a hundred years. How can that not be a viable investment when we know energy is not going to get any cheaper.

There is no doubt that solar power will be powering our future and we should be investigating how to make sensible use of all that free energy available from the sun.

Different Types Of Solar Panels

There are two main types of solar panels that you might want to consider using. The term solar panel refers to a solar collector panel that absorbs the energy from the sun and converts it into usable energy and the two types of energy the sun provides are heat and light.

Photo voltaic solar panels collect sunlight and convert that light into electrical energy that can be modified and used to power electrical items in your home. The panels are quite expensive but they require little in the way of maintenance and should continue to produce free electrical power for twenty years or more.

Thermal solar energy panels collect the heat from the sun and this is usually transferred to a fluid that is pumped through the panels and them transfers that heat energy to your hot water system. This is a surprisingly effective and efficient way of heating your water and reducing the cost of water heating using more conventional fuels. Thermal solar panels should last for many years and provide free heat energy for a long time, saving you significant amounts of money over the years.

The investment in solar energy collector panels is quite high initially but once installed the running costs and maintenance are minimal and they provide free energy for a long time.
